Manning Makes Grossman Pey
By Steve Serby

The difference in Super Bowl XLI was the difference between Peyton Manning and Wrecks Grossman, end of story.
It was Mann against boys for most of the night, and Mann against boy at the most important position in the spot in what ought to go down as the biggest quarterback missmatch in Super Bowl history.
This was as if Rex Grossman had come to the showdown in the ain with a gun shaped out of soap, the way Woody Allen did in Take The Money and Run, to face off with a gun slinger so quick on the draw and so deadly Jesse James might have been hiding amongst the woman and children.
.....Grossman, clearly rattled now, the game clearly too big for him, threw another one to the wrong guys, this time to Bob Sanders. Game.

Rex Wrecks Bears' Title Dreams
By Paul Schwartz
Published : February 5, 2007 / New York Post
The rhetoric all week was not kind to the Bears' Rex Grossman. It went something like this : Was he the worst quarterback to ever make it to a Super Bowl ?
The game was even crueler. Grossman last night was the embodiment of all the fears Chicagoans harbored for the man in charge of their offense. With Grossman at the controls, the Bears were 15-3 heading into Super Bowl XLI. He rarely won pretty, but he won often.
Not so this time. He lost, and it wasn't pretty. It was downright ugly.
Grossman went from decent to bad to horrid on a rainy night at Dolphin Stadium. He turned the ball over three times on two interceptions and one lost fumble. He recovered another one of his own fumbles for a nine-yard loss. He generated one touchdown drive thanks mainly to running back Thomas Jones. And he failed miserably in the one-sided duel with Peyton Manning. It all added up to Colts 29, Bears 17 and no quieting the debate of just how bad Grossman actually is.
.....Mostly, the Bears tried their best to make their beleaguered quarterback a non-factor, tried to take the game out of his hands, tried to hang tough and stay close without Grossman having to do any heavy lifting.
.....This was the formula the Bears knew they must avoid : Falling behind and asking Grossman to save the day.....

Peyton Take Place at Top
By Mike Lupica
Published : February 5, 2007 / New York Daily News
.....But on the night when Peyton Manning finally won it all, it was the quarterback on the other team, Rex Grossman, playing as bad a game as any Super Bowl quarterback has ever played, who helped carry Manning across the finish line.
.....Grossman acted as if the ball were covered in grease.....

Rex Loses It in Snap
By Tim Smith
Published : February 5, 2007 / New York Daily News
It turns out Rex Grossman was who we thought he was - a quarterback who was playing on borrowed time. Too bad for the Bears, Grossman picked the biggest possible spot to unravel into the mistake-prone passer that drew the wrath of Bears fans all season.
.....On a rainy night, when Grossman needed to step up, he had slippery fingers - literally.....
.....Heading into the game, much had been made of Grossman's inadequacies. Some rated him the worst quarterback ever to strap on a helmet for a Super Bowl. It was hard to argue with those critics after last night.....

Colts Win at Bears' Game
By Hank Gola
Published : February 5, 2007 / New York Daily News
.....BAD REX: Grossman's job this season was never to win games for the Bears - he was asked only not to lose them. With the ground attack stalled, Chicago was forced to ask more of its quarterback than it ever wanted to....

Peyton : Eli Can Be Super
By Paul Schwartz

.....In Chicago, they know. In Rex, they don't trust. It's a sentiment the Giants are all-too familiar with.
